Student has two valuable resources,
- Time
- Memory
Both of these resources wasted due to improper management. These two resources are essential factors to be success in the exams.
How to manage your time
Time is the most valuable and important resource. However, students cannot manage it productively. First, you should develop a schedule according to your needs. Then follow it carefully. Your success is depends on your schedule.
Where you can study
You can study anywhere that you want but there are some special places, which helps you to study better than the others. Libraries and your residence rooms are better places. If you can prepare a small room in your house, that will works much better than the other places. Arrange a small table & comfortable chair in the room.
Do not place any other furniture in that room. Keep your study materials in an order.
Good physical environment will create a good mental environment for you.
Be a good thinker
Good thinker can identify more opportunities than the others can. Start to be a good thinker. Talk to your friends and colleagues who are effectively thinking. Ask them for better ways of thinking, read some books, journals on that topic.
The SQ3R method
The SQ3R method is a well-known method all over the world. Study this method carefully and keep it in your mind. This method can help you to carryout an effective study strategy.
Next, find out what is this SQ3R method,
Survey
Before you study in detail, capture the best overall picture of your work/ lesson.
Identify all the initial work that you must do before begins the study.
Question
Make questions and ask it from the study material. This is an ideal approach to learning.
Ask the questions based on What, Why, How, When, Where, Who. Give answers to them. If you are, enable to answers to them, read again.
With this procedure, you can memorize the sense of the material very easily. Once you can answer the questions that you made, you will impress on your self and your mind will automatically motivate.
Write questions in the margins of the book or tutorial.
Read
Read and answers to your questions. Pay attention on bold & italic lines in the material. Tables, graphs and charts can contain lot of information in summarized format. Read them carefully. Those things can be helpful in the exam.
Recite
After read each page or paragraph, stop reading and recall what you have read up to that point. First, recall the headings, small topics then the content and tables, charts... etc.
Try to teach every thing to yourself with your own words. Draw the charts, tables in blank paper without looking at the study material and paste them in the walls of your study room.
Review
Review what you have learned up to the current point. Rereading is a key factor of the review process. Refer the note that you have prepared and clarify the missed and difficult areas. Once you finished the studying, do a review.
Do not delay it until the exam sessions.
If you follow the SQ3R method, you can easily achieve greater success in the exams.
